Too sweet for their own good

14th November, 2025

Just like people, pets can develop diabetes — and early detection makes a huge difference. This November, Pet Diabetes Month serves as a reminder to watch for the signs and keep your furry friends healthy.

Diabetes occurs when the body can’t properly regulate blood sugar levels. Common signs include:

  • Increased thirst and urination
  • Weight loss despite a good appetite
  • Lethargy or reduced activity
  • Recurrent infections (such as urinary infections)
  • Cloudy eyes (cataracts) in dogs

If you notice any of these changes, it’s important to book a check-up. Diabetes can usually be managed successfully with a combination of insulin, diet, and regular monitoring, helping pets continue to live happy, active lives.

Our team is here to advise on recognising symptoms, testing, and treatment options. If you’re concerned about your pet, give us a call - early action is the best medicine!
