New Cat Chipping Law

16/03/2023

After many years of campaigning by Cats Protection, on the 13th March the Government announced that microchipping of all pet cats in England will become compulsory. From 10th June 2024 it will become a legal requirement in England to have your cat microchipped before 20 weeks of age and its details stored in a database. Those who do not have their cat chipped could face a fine of up to £500.

Many lost unmicrochipped cats never get reunited with their owners and are rehomed from rescue centres. Also, owners are often unaware of their pets being injured in road traffic accidents. Please don’t wait for it to become law. Just call us and book your appointment now. Microchipping is quick, simple and a permanent means of identification for your pet.
